Drinking Aloe Vera Juice Could Improve Your Health

Aloe vera is a plant that can be found almost everywhere. Aloe vera is something that can be found in just about every herb garden. It’s easy to underestimate the healing powers of this simple and easy to grow plant. Aloe vera, in the form of a gel, is commonly given for burns; many people think that this is all it’s good for. The fact is that aloe vera is a holistic healing agent that can help you in every way. Aloe vera is exceptionally rich in amino acids and it nourishes all of your cells and body parts. This one natural remedy, aloe vera juice, is something that you can use to treat almost any condition.

Aloe vera is known for a all-around skincare solution; but, did you now that it is an effective acne treatment? Visit any convenience store and your head will be spinning from all of the acne kits and ointments to choose from. Aloe vera juice is one of very few natural cures available for clearing your face of acne. The topical application of aloe vera has been known to soothe skin and to help it heal, which makes it perfect for the occasional breakout. Frequent aloe vera use also leads to softer skin.

Aloe vera also works as a detoxifier, purifying your whole body. In addition to adding healthful components to your system, aloe vera juice can help your body expel the toxins and other substances that work to break it down. This can provide you with an alternative to more complicated detox programs like master cleanses. The same results can be gotten by the much easier method of taking a couple of ounces of aloe vera juice daily. Aloe vera is a way to detox without fasting, sweating or extreme dieting.

Headaches are another prevalent malady in today’s world. Aloe vera juice can help. You may not know this, but dehydration is a major cause of headaches. Just as aloe vera can help to moisturize skin, it can stimulate capillary dilation and the flow of blood. These things help increase the amount of oxygen and moisture the brain receives, which can go a long way to curing your headaches, not to mention the hydration you get from drinking the juice itself!

If you want to remain healthy, you have to do certain things. You want to eat a balanced diet. Nor can you neglect exercise. The more active your life in general is, the better off you are. Another great way to improve your health is to take an aloe vera juice supplement. You can swallow a supplement pill or drink a little juice daily. It really doesn’t matter how you take your aloe vera, so long as your body is able to get it.

People from all parts of the world have been using this plant as a healing remedy since ancient times!

Glucosamine Supplement

October 6th, 2010 No comments

This article will explain what a glucosamine supplement is, what it does and who can benefit from it. You will also learn what a normal glucosamine dosage is and what other conditions will benefit from using glucosamine supplements

Glucosamine is a natural substance made from glutamine (amino acids) and glucose (sugars). You’re body will use glucosamine to repair cartilage and body tissues. You’re body is able to produce more glucosamine when you are younger. The bodies’ process of producing glucosamine will slow with age, leading to possible muscle and joint problems like arthritis.

The fact that we lose glucosamine as we get older has lead to the availability of purchasing glucosamine as a supplement. Glucosamine supplements often contain another substance found naturally in our cartilage called chondroitin, or methyl sulfonyl methane.  This substance is found naturally in foods like cow’s milk and contributes sulfur to the supplement.

People who suffer from osteoarthritis, especially of the knees are often prescribed glucosamine supplements. Glucosamine is given to help replace the natural glucosamine that you’re body no longer makes.  Glucosamine is believed to help repair damaged cartilage that causes the osteoarthritis.

Research has shown that glucosamine can help relieve the pain in you’re knees.  Glucosamine also helps reduce the progression of osteoarthritis.  A recent study used glucosamine combined with hydrochloride (less popular form) found the results to be not very effective.  The same study also found that glucosamine combined with chondroitin, did little to reduce the pain in the knees.  People, who participated in the study, had a better response with pain reduction using pure glucosamine.  That’s not to say that chondrotin will not help you in other ways.

One thousand five hundred mg per day is the recommended dosage of glucosamine to help treat osteoarthritis.  Experts suggest trying glucosamine for a three month trial period.  If there is no improvement after this time period, stop using it.  Obviously if there is improvement then continue to use the supplement.

Glucosamine when used short term is usually tolerated by you’re body quite well.  The long term use by some individuals can develop mild side effects. Some people may notice an increase in blood sugar levels if they are Type I or Type II diabetics, people with diabetes should be closely monitored.   You may also notice an increase in blood pressure.

People who use glucosamine and suffer from bleeding disorders or who are taking blood thinner medications may increase their risk of bleeding.  At the time of writing this article it is not known if glucosamine is safe for women who are pregnant or nursing. Consult with your physician.

A few more uses for glucosamine are for conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and even some skin conditions.

I believe that glucosamine has been beneficial to my own knee problems.  One thing I never do is take more then the daily recommended dosage.  Please read the label carefully.

The fact that you can purchase glucosamine supplements online doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t first consult with you’re physician.  Always and I repeat always consult with you’re physician before taking any supplement to ensure that you are not harming yourself.  Especially if you are currently taking any medications, pregnant, nursing or you have any current health problems.

Hydroxycut Recall

June 15th, 2010 No comments

The Food and Drug Administration said the maker of the dietary supplement Hydroxycut has agreed to recall 14 Hydroxycut products. The product is available in grocery stores and pharmacies.

Hydroxycut is advertised as made from natural ingredients, which I personally have my doubts as to whether some products labeled natural are in fact natural. At least 9 million packages of Hydroxycut were sold last year according to the FDA .

Government health officials warned anyone using Hydroxycut, which includes dieters and body builders to immediately stop using Hydroxycut. This supplement is widely linked to cases of serious liver damage and at least one death.

Dr. Linda Katz of the FDA’s food and nutrition division said the agency has received 23 reports of liver problems, including the death of a 19-year-old boy living in the Southwest.

Other people affected, experienced symptoms ranging from jaundice, or yellowing of the skin, to liver failure. One person has received a transplant and another was placed on a list to await a new liver.

When buying supplements make sure you fully understand the possible side effects.
