A condition that causes people to momentarily stop breathing in their sleep repeatedly in the night is referred to as sleep apnea. The problem effects men more than women and is very often not diagnosed in overweight or obese women. Sleep apnea weight gain can create various health conditions.
Sleep apnea can cause exhaustion in the daytime that may lead to overeating, an increase in accidents and drowsiness when left untreated. An increase in heart attacks and stroke is possible if left untreated. Doctors believe that even a weight loss of ten pounds can be enough to show an improvement with their situation.
Sleep apnea occurs when an excess amount of tissue in the airway causes it to narrow. This prevents air from flowing in and out of the nose or mouth easily. The resulting effect is very heavy snoring and periods of not breathing which can create quick changes from a deep sleep to a much lighter sleep. When you consume alcoholic beverages the intensity of the breathing and frequency of breathing pauses intensifies.
If you or your loved one suspects that you may have this condition speak with your doctor.

When the airflow in your breathing passage gets irregular due to obstruction, then the soft palate starts flapping. The soft palate’s flapping creates the snoring sound. Therefore, snoring can be defined as that sound that is created through the open mouth due to the vibration of the uvula and the soft palate. Snoring happens during sleep and the intensity of its sound may vary from person to person.
But maybe the most usual reason for snoring is the obstruction in the air passage in general. What could be causes for the snoring sound are the following: fat accumulated on the throat and the improper positioning of the jaws. Probable reasons for the blockage in the air passages are sleeping with the jaws closed or with the tongue collapsed back in the throat. Even those allergies that can cause a swelling of some kind around the throat and the nasal air passages may be responsible for a person’s blocked breathing passage and brings about the snoring.
Snoring is a common condition that is suffered by many men and even women at that. Many people consider the idea that the snorers are not aware that they have the snoring issue and are virtually deaf to the sound of their snore as funny and quite an irony as well. Snoring is both a medical issue and a social problem. This can cause a huge disruption on your partner’s sleep. It also definitely disturbs the sleeping patterns of the snorer himself. If a person continues to snore for a long period of time without looking for ways on how to reduce snoring, then it might lead into a more serious condition like sleep apnea.
A lot of people are wondering if snoring can actually be cured or not. Those who snore heavily must seek for medical attention even if it would take many treatments and tests to remedy it. These examinations may be quite useful in determining the type of treatment that is suitable for a specific individual. After a couple of tests, diagnosis will be able to point out if the snoring is caused by allergies, infections, and tonsils or if it is an end result of obesity or lifestyle factors.
Surgery is not your only option when you have snoring concerns. If the throat and the jaw muscles are often exercised, the breathing passageway will become broader. Make it a habit to exercise these areas – Yoga and singing are natural methods that will help reduce snoring.
