Hydroxycut Recall
The Food and Drug Administration said the maker of the dietary supplement Hydroxycut has agreed to recall 14 Hydroxycut products. The product is available in grocery stores and pharmacies.
Hydroxycut is advertised as made from natural ingredients, which I personally have my doubts as to whether some products labeled natural are in fact natural. At least 9 million packages of Hydroxycut were sold last year according to the FDA .
Government health officials warned anyone using Hydroxycut, which includes dieters and body builders to immediately stop using Hydroxycut. This supplement is widely linked to cases of serious liver damage and at least one death.
Dr. Linda Katz of the FDA’s food and nutrition division said the agency has received 23 reports of liver problems, including the death of a 19-year-old boy living in the Southwest.
Other people affected, experienced symptoms ranging from jaundice, or yellowing of the skin, to liver failure. One person has received a transplant and another was placed on a list to await a new liver.
When buying supplements make sure you fully understand the possible side effects.
