Weight Loss Is Not A Race

When beginning an exercise program there is a couple of things you must understand

“Rome wasn’t built in a day”. Now we have all heard this quote, it has never been more truthful then in a weight loss or exercise program. People first start out all motivated and excited to train. They have goals of losing 30 lbs or bench pressing 300 lbs, along with many other long term goals. But after training for a month they start to get discouraged. They are not reaching their goals fast enough for their liking. Weight loss and exercise is a life changing process. There is no quick-fix solution.

You have to want to make life changes. Exercise is a way to help improve your health and reach your physical goals. There are no short cuts that have long lasting effects.

Take your time and set short term goals that will help you reach your ultimate goals 5 years from now. I’ve seen a lot of people come and go in the gym. They all started out like gangbusters, but a couple of months down the road they quit.

Being An Early Riser Can Help Lose 10 Pounds

Do you remember Ben Franklin’s advice – early to bed, early to rise? Are you someone who sleeps in until late in the morning every day? Are you someone who sleeps in on the weekends? Because this is not helping your metabolism.

The one way you can lose 10 pounds quickly is to get up early and exercise. You should also, after you are finished exercising, eat some protein. This will give your metabolism a jump start for the entire day. Weight gain is usually the result of inactivity and the consumption of the wrong kinds of foods. You can rectify it right away by starting the day off right.

When you exercise in the morning, it gets your metabolism going right away. You need to raise your metabolism if you are going to lose weight. Remember how much you could eat as a kid and never gain an ounce? The reason for that was a high metabolism. A low metabolism is the result of aging and often, inactivity.

Kirstie Alley On Oprah

Kirstie Alley was on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and told Oprah that she felt terrible and sorry that she had let all the people down who she had previously motivated.

As the Jenny Craig spokeswomen Kirstie Alley literally lost all her weight in front of hundreds of thousands of people. Kirstie was constantly weighed by her employers for legal reasons (she had to weigh what they were advertising). She followed the meal plan and worked out consistently in her fully equipped home gym.

Unfortunately she gained the 70 pounds back plus an extra 15 pounds.

After she stopped being the spokeswomen for Jenny Craig she basically went back to her old habits or comfort zone if you will. She ate whatever she wanted, never checked her weight and put all the exercise equipment in the garage. Continue Reading>>

Glycemic Index Can Help You Lose Weight

This article will explain what the glycemic level is and how it can benefit people trying to lose weight.

The glycemic index is a method for comparing the blood glucose response of carbohydrate based foods. It was developed to aid individuals with diabetes in controlling their blood sugar levels while consuming a low fat, higher carbohydrate diet.

The glycemic index can potentially be used as a guide for pre and post exercise nutrition for those trying to lose weight.

The rate of oxidation of plasma free fatty acids (FFA) can remain elevated for several hours following exercise. However, if insulin levels are increased the fatty acids will be reconverted to triglycerides and stored. Is was found that plasma FFA use was lower following a high glycemic index meal than a low glycemic index meal. It was also found that the high glycaemic index meals greater insulin responses than low glycemic meals.
