This article will explain the benefits of fiber when you want to reduce water retention.

If you want to reduce water retention, you need to eat high fiber foods. Water retention is often called edema and can be caused by a number of different conditions. This includes when you are dieting and not drinking enough water as well as having a disease such as diabetes.

Many of the health problems that people have are related to the foods that they eat. When you eat fiber dense foods, you can better clean out your system and at least keep the digestive tract healthy. High fiber foods include vegetables, whole grains and fruits. These foods are all good for you and will help your digestive tract.

Water retention is often found in people who are dehydrated. This can be the result of not drinking enough fluids. When you drink eight glasses of water a day, you will first feel bloated, but will then lose the water retention as your body cleans itself out. If you eat a diet that is rich in fiber and drink plenty of water, you will naturally maintain a healthy weight as well as keep a clean digestive tract.

Water retention can lead to all sorts of problems and puts a strain on your kidneys and other organs. Water retention is often caused by constipation. This is when you have a failure to move your bowels. Although this is not a subject that many people like to discuss, in order for your digestive tract to remain healthy, you should have bowel movements every day around the same time and when you urinate it should be almost clear. This is a way to know that you are eating and drinking the right foods. Your urine should be almost clear colored except in the morning. Clear urine is a great indication that you are drinking plenty of water.

By eating high fiber foods and drinking plenty of water, you will help your digestive tract remain regular. You will keep your body cleansed and not have such a bloated feeling. High fiber foods are recommended for people over the age of two years old. If someone is having a problem and is sick with diarrhea, they should stay away from fiber dense foods until this condition subsides, but make sure that they drink plenty of fluids so that they do not get dehydrated. One of the reasons for water retention is dehydration.

If you want to reduce water retention in your body, begin a diet that consists of high fiber foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Eat a fiber cereal in the morning and make sure that you drink plenty of water. Avoid foods that are heavy with sodium as they tend to cause you to retain water. Processed foods and frozen foods are often high in sodium and should be avoided if you are having a problem with water retention.

You have to realize how important fiber is to our health and the great health benefits that we will receive from increasing our fiber intake.

Health Benefits of Fiber

May 15th, 2010 No comments

The health benefits of fiber for people with diabetes can be beneficial when high fiber foods that are low in sugar are included in the diet plan. As one of the major health issues today is Type II Diabetes, fiber is very important. This disease is often caused by those who are overweight and who do not process foods through their digestive tract properly. Diabetics cannot process sugars the same as people without the disease, they will often end up harming their digestive tract and kidneys.

When you eat high fiber foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, you can maintain a healthy digestive tract as well as stave off problems with diabetes, blood pressure and high cholesterol.

The most important health benefits of fiber is so simple – they make you go to the bathroom. No one likes to talk about bowel movements in polite society, but doctors know how important this is for you and you should understand how it works, too. Bowel movements clean your body of waste. You should have bowel movements each day. Some people have one, others two. What is regular for one person may not be regular for another, but the important thing is that you are not constipated. Being constipated puts a strain on your entire body.

When you have bowel movements, you eliminate waste. This means all the harmful cholesterol and sugars and other things that your body does not need are flushed through your system. By eliminating these toxins from your body, you are ridding your body of something that it does not need and will end up taxing a part of the system.

By eating high fiber foods, you will encourage bowel movements that will eliminate bad cholesterol and keep your blood pressure in tact. You can also maintain a healthier weight when you eat fiber dense foods as well as healthy blood sugars. If you really want to help yourself out, you will also drink plenty of water when you are eating fiber dense foods. This will clean out your entire system and rid it of the daily toxins that come with many of the other foods you eat and are generally part of every day living.

If you start now by eating these high fiber foods in your diet, and also encouraging your family to do the same, you can have good digestive health and ward off diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Start incorporating high fiber foods into your every day diet. Do not wait until you have problems with your cholesterol or blood pressure to do this. If you have diabetes, you should watch the sugar intake of the fruits that you eat but should consume a diet of fiber dense foods as well.

Make sure you consult with your doctor before making any changes to your diet, just to be on the safe side.
