A: The word “ion” means a positively or negatively charged particle. A water ionizer is basically a machine that splits up water molecule clusters and breaks them down into two types of water: alkaline water and acid water. By passing a small amount of electricity through a good quality alkaline water machine’s platinum coated titanium electrodes as the water passes through, the water molecule clusters break up into smaller clusters with about 70% of the clusters being positively charged alkaline water molecules and the other 30% negatively charged acid water molecules.
