Snoring Treatment To Help you Rest

Anti snoring pillow, nasal bone strips, and mouthpiece – snoring treatment to help you rest.

If you’re like me, your snoring problem keeps you from getting the proper rest you need at night and it causes sleepiness during the daytime hours. I get tired often during the day when I should be wide awake and alert, and recently my sleepiness has even started to impact my job performance. Not only that, but I also wake up my wife at night; oftentimes she needs to roll me over just so she can get to sleep herself. So I decided to look up snoring and the various snoring treatment used to help people beat this problem in order to sleep better at night. I found several anti-snoring products that looked promising, including a mouthpiece, snoring pillow, and nasal strips. I tried out each of these products soundly, and below I have summarized my findings:

Nasal strips

When snoring is caused by over-crowding or any type of blockage from the nasal path, nasal strips are a fabulous and effective way to reduce your snoring. The strip is rigid and bendable, and sticks to your nose via adhesive. It pulls your nostrils open, allowing for a much clearer path for air to go in and out of your nose and reducing any vibration. Although these strips can be quite an effective for nasal snoring, some users complain than they can be lightly uncomfortable. I personally felt a little weird at first, that weirdness was gone after a few minutes, as I got used to the feeling, while the stripes curbbed my snoring, helping me to have a better sleep. It is important to remember that nasal strips are only effective only if snoring was caused by a nasal blockage. But this is only a small part of all snoring issues. Predominately, snoring begins from the base of soft palate as well as tongue, and it is suggested that you will have to go with a different treatment

Mouthpiece (also called mandibular advancement splint)

With a mouthpiece, snoring is reduced by altering the alignment of the jaw while you are asleep. Soft tissues in the throat can break down while sleeping and jam the airway, and the vibration of these tissues is what causes the snoring. By bringing the jaw forward and lifting the soft palate with a mouthpiece, the airway can be opened up more so the tissues aren’t so loose, thus reducing the vibration. Another cause of snoring is the tongue falling back to the throat, so keeping the jaw aligned in this way will help. There are several over the counter mouthpieces available, and you can also visit your tooth doctor and have one custom made. The latter option can be expensive, but having the mouthpiece made specifically for your mouth is very effective at reducing, or even eliminating snoring.

Anti-snoring pillow

As with a mouthpiece, snoring can be reduced with a special pillow by aligning the breathing passage for optimum air passage. There are different types of snoring pillows; the first one elevates your head and neck and lifts the chin up so tissues don’t hang loosely in the throat and cause vibration. The second type of pillow is designed to be comfortable for sleeping on your side. It is evident that sleeping on side dramatically reduce snoring, as it prevents the blockage of the throat. So these pillows are extremely effective.

Don’t forget that there are many health-related factors that cause snoring, including obesity, smoking, and drinking, so always strive to improve your overall health as these are the main culprits that cause obstructions in the throat in the first place. The above products are extremely effective for a short term relief, and helping you get better sleep. Whether you go with a mouthpiece, snoring pillow, or nasal strips, make sure to consult with your doctor for the best short-term and long-term snoring treatment solutions.
