Ways to TMJ Exercise

What is this TMJ relief  for? I think it is best if first we describe TMJ as it is often considered to be a disorder.   TMJ is the temporomandibular joint or in nonprofessional’s term, the jaw joint. There are two TMJs working conjointly. These two bones are located on both sides from the joints.  Cranium is the upper bone   , it is called the temporal bone, and the mandible is the lower jaw bone  . These joints have to work in unison because they are connected together by the articular disc, and their functions are interconnected. The lower joint compartment is for the rotational movement when the mouth is opened. Adding up  , the upper joint compartment is for the translational movement when the mouth is opened widely. Accordingly, if one of them is not working decently, then that causes a lot of pain .

TMJ dysfunction can easily be spotted as it causes pain over the joint or you have difficulty opening your mouth. Nevertheless, some of the TMJ disfunction  are related to other parts of the body like your eyes, ears, neck and a lot more. Toothaches, headaches, and even migraines are some examples of its cause . This is not a simple matter that should be ignored  and so, professional help is important  . Exercise is a very efficient way of ridding the pain caused by TMJ dysfunction. To determine the correct exercise and the correct diagnosis, one should seek the help of a medical specialist first before doing  any of the steps .

For your first TMJ exercise, sit on a chair with your back resting comfortably against the backrest. Close your mouth, use your thumb and forefinger to press the front of your lower jaw. Press your head backwards and make sure that it is not bent, this would force the mouth to open slightly. You will know if you have done this correctly, as you will feel your lower teeth moving backwards in synchronization with your upper teeth. Gently move your head and jaw forward and never look up and down. Perform these steps five times a day for best results.

Secondly, place your thumb and forefinger against your face onto your lower jaw. You also have to make sure that your upper and lower teeth are apart. You would feel your upper and lower teeth moving in unison while you slowly press your jaw backwards. In a few seconds after the first exercise  , gently press your jaw against your hand and hold on to that position for about ten seconds. While keeping that position, gently press your lower jaw making sure    to thrust your lower teeth forward. 

With the last TMJ exercise , gently clasp your teeth together and place the tip of your tongue just behind the front teeth. Run your tongue backwards until you feel the soft palate. Then carefully open your mouth, stopping when you feel your tongue leaving the soft palate, or if you feel pain or uncomfortable doing this. Repeat this exercise several times per day. It’s very important that you perform these exercises properly to benefit from them.

Arthritis – Not Just For The Senior Citizens

There’s a general misconception that arthritis is an age-related health problem that troubles only the senior citizens or the elderly. Osteoarthritis, being the most common type, is a chronic illness which causes the cartilage between the bone joints to get worse and may cause painful sensation and/or stiffness. New pieces of bones, called bone spurs, may grow round the joints as a consequence of osteoarthritis. Until now, there’s no known reason yet as to the root of osteoarthritis but it is in general being associated with aging. However, factors like metabolism and genes can play a part in its development.

There are many factors to consider before your physician can prescribe arthritis pain relief treatment plan such as the particular cause of arthritis, affected joints, severity of arthritis, and how the condition affects your daily activities. Age and occupation will also be considered.

Weight Loss or Gain When You Are Working Out

 When a women continues gain weight or doesn’t really notice a change in body weight after working out over a period of time, it can be very frustrating.   However, if your are going through something like this, there is a very specific reason or a root cause why this is happening to you.

 You’re going to have to start by throwing your scale away and stop relaying on your weight as a measurement.   The scale just spits a number back at you and this number doesn’t really mean anything because there is more to your weight and your body size that just what a scale shows you.

 1. Your Putting Muscle On and Not Fat 

 You have to realize that muscles weighs more then fat. You can then lose some of your actual body size and gain weight at the same time.   So when you see that you are not really losing weight even though your are losing inches off your waist or other parts of your body, it’s because you are putting on healthy lean muscle mass through your weight training for women

This does not mean that you are putting on size.  What you are doing is building lean muscle mass and while burning fat, which is taking inches off your body so you are really getting slimmer, leaner and most importantly healthier. 

2. Not Changing Your Workout Enough

This is very common when it comes to fitness. Every time I’m in the gym, I see the same women time and time again doing the same exercise routines without making any noticeable changes… I’m surprised they are still trying.   But the thing is your body is designed to get better the more you do something.   So the workout that these women are currently doing becomes to easy to continue to see any improvements.

Make sure you change your workout at the very least every four weeks. Do this and you will consistently see results from month to month.  

3. Still Eating Bad Foods

 This is a problem that so many people struggle with and it kills your chances for great results.   I’ve talked to many women who think they can eat whatever they want because they workout, but doing that will only lead to frustration.   A good workout, no matter how good it is, can never compete with a really bad diet.   Food plays so many games with your body that all the energy and time you’ve put into your workout plans will be for nothing.
